Square Sounds is a boutique micro-festival that celebrates the world’s foremost chipmusic talent. With Game boys, Commodores and other consoles scavenged from op shops and forgotten toyboxes in hand, artists come together from all over the world to stretch the boundaries of what video game consoles can do; coaxing sights and sounds from these unexpected tools. Building a community is what the last four years have been all about and in year number five, we have managed to line up some of our most requested artists from talented newcomers to legends of the scene, bringing them together across four days of music, visuals and workshops. With 5 years of the festival, and almost 100 artists from around the world taking stage at the preparty and on the main stage, this year’s festival will be the last in melbourne before a break, but we’re making sure it will be a memorable one, with a chance of venue to 24 Moons, a later license and - as always - an amazing selection of artists from across the globe taking the stage for one massive weekend not to be missed. Whether you’re coming along to to catch some of your favourites on the main stage, checking out the day time workshops to learn some of the tips and tricks for making chipmusic yourself, or taking the stage at the open mic to show off what you can do; Square Sounds caters for fans, artists and future legends of the scene.
